The festival is kicking off year one with a week full of events that we hope will not only inspire and inform, but lay the foundation upon which to create a world-class event for years to come.

Join us for a walk to raise funds for OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute.
Oregon has a rich legacy of consumer products, from beer and coffee to footwear and jackets. Join us as we listen to a series of conversations between founders and leaders in the consumer product ecosystem. In addition to the conversations, we will have moderated breakout sessions that focus on getting your product to market, capital for consumer companies, and brand storytelling — ending the day with time to network with fellow attendees and company leaders.
In our discussions around this inaugural Built Up Festival, we engaged with a variety of companies and organizations who helped us envision a thriving marketplace where Oregon companies gather to promote their products to potential buyers, investors, and consumers. As much as we would love to have this be part of the inaugural event, we feel that this vision will be best served, for all parties, by saving its launch until Built Up Festival 2018.

These sessions will not only present great insights to the attendees, but just as importantly, give Built Oregon knowledge and elements to build into their organization’s mission going forward. The outcome of these efforts should be Built Oregon’s 2018 marching orders as a not-for-profit.

While we have a grand vision for the potential of the Built Up Festival Showcase, our conversations with innumerable Oregon entrepreneurs have taught us the dangers of biting off more than you can chew.
To ensure the greatest experience for all parties, we will forego the showcase this year in favor of launching it as part of Built Up Festival 2018. This will give us sufficient time to better connect Oregon companies to opportunities and create relationships that lead to collaborative brand mash-ups. This event, and much of what we are planning on doing at Built Oregon around consumer products in Oregon, was inspired by Shelley Gunton. Shelley was the cofounder of Castor & Pollux, an active angel investor, and tireless mentor. Her passion, vision, and dedication for the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem was unmatched. As part of this event, and all future Built Up events, we are organizing a walk to raise money for OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute. The walk will be a time to connect with friends and celebrate life and will end with post walk beverage where we can plot how all of us can remain fired up and ready to go for Oregon’s consumer product ecosystem.
