Celebrating Oregon’s Makers, Brands & Regions

Bringing Oregon together to celebrate, connect, and support our consumer product ecosystem.

We are excited to launch the inaugural Built Up Festival to celebrate the makers, brands, and regions that together, create Oregon’s tapestry. The festival is kicking off year one with a week full of events that we hope will not only inspire and inform, but lay the foundation upon which to create a world-class event for years to come.

We strongly believe that Oregon is the world-class leader in consumer products, and it’s time to own that message and voice. Join us and let’s build this together.

A Full Week of Events and Workshops

Community Events

From how to talk to buyers to the future of retail, there are a number of events to attend over the course of the festival. These events will allow you to network, learn and connect to the consumer products community.

If you are interested in hosting an event, drop us a note and we’ll see how we can work that into the schedule!

Walk for Shelley

Join us for a walk to raise funds for OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute.

Main Event

Presented by Ziba Design

Oregon has a rich legacy of consumer products, from beer and coffee to footwear and jackets. Join us as we listen to a series of conversations between founders and leaders in the consumer product ecosystem. In addition to the conversations, we will have moderated breakout sessions that focus on getting your product to market, capital for consumer companies, and brand storytelling — ending the day with time to network with fellow attendees and company leaders.

Company Showcase

Coming in 2018

In our discussions around this inaugural Built Up Festival, we engaged with a variety of companies and organizations who helped us envision a thriving marketplace where Oregon companies gather to promote their products to potential buyers, investors, and consumers. As much as we would love to have this be part of the inaugural event, we feel that this vision will be best served, for all parties, by saving its launch until Built Up Festival 2018.

The consumer product ecosystem in Oregon is one that is stitched together through stories, insights, and a sense of collaboration. In that vein, we have set up a series of fireside-type conversations — conversations that will look to bridge Oregon’s rich consumer product legacy, while highlighting current trends and innovations.

Breakout sessions

After the talks, attendees will be able to participate in a series of roundtable discussions on the following topics:

The Capital Continuum

The challenges, opportunities, and unknowns around capital for consumer product companies.

The Story You Tell

From written to visual, how companies tell their story many times defines who they are and creates pathways for success—or failure.

From Idea to Market

You can have the best product in the world, but if nobody knows about it, success will be a challenge. Discuss both local and international sales opportunities.

These sessions will not only present great insights to the attendees, but just as importantly, give Built Oregon knowledge and elements to build into their organization’s mission going forward. The outcome of these efforts should be Built Oregon’s 2018 marching orders as a not-for-profit.

Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.

Company Showcase

Coming in 2018

While we have a grand vision for the potential of the Built Up Festival Showcase, our conversations with innumerable Oregon entrepreneurs have taught us the dangers of biting off more than you can chew.

To ensure the greatest experience for all parties, we will forego the showcase this year in favor of launching it as part of Built Up Festival 2018. This will give us sufficient time to better connect Oregon companies to opportunities and create relationships that lead to collaborative brand mash-ups. If this sounds interesting to you or your company, please fill out the form and we will include you in our planning for 2018.

Date: 9/23

Walk for Shelley

Location: TBD

This event, and much of what we are planning on doing at Built Oregon around consumer products in Oregon, was inspired by Shelley Gunton. Shelley was the cofounder of Castor & Pollux, an active angel investor, and tireless mentor. Her passion, vision, and dedication for the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem was unmatched. As part of this event, and all future Built Up events, we are organizing a walk to raise money for OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute. The walk will be a time to connect with friends and celebrate life and will end with post walk beverage where we can plot how all of us can remain fired up and ready to go for Oregon’s consumer product ecosystem.

The walk is free to attend, but we do request a donation to OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute of any amount you can give. More details—location and exact times—are still to come, but please click the link below and register so we can get a sense of the number of participants.
